Focusing her eyes on the music stand, strings senior Minh Thu Nguyen performs the love theme from “Cinema Paradiso.” Nguen performed two pieces in the show, ending her four years with Impromptu with the Ghibli film score “Kiki’s Delivery Service,” which she has played with her friends every year. “I really wanted to play a slow, romantic piece for my last senior year as opposed to a fun one,” Nguyen said. “I like to think that it represented my growth throughout these four years playing in Impromptu.”

A section of fencing lies collapsed near the entrance to the student parking lot, marked by an orange traffic cone as school personnel monitor the area. Rain continued throughout the afternoon as students left campus, while crews assessed the damages, and traffic moved through the bus loop entrance. ”We are hopeful that the gate will be repaired quickly tomorrow, weather permitting,” Principal Blake Bennet said. Spreading his arms and kicking his right leg, Hairy Details co-president and theatre senior Enrique Parisca participates in an acting game, as theatre junior Kylie Christensen tracks the scene. As lightning kept students held in the building past the end of the planned set list, members pulled new games and suggestions from the crowd on the spot to extend the performance. “The ability to pivot (due to the thunderstorm) was really good,” Parisca said. “The fact that everyone was so down to just play and have a good time and were out there suggesting games was just really beautiful, and it was a really great way to start off the year.”
